The Union Baptist Church, Ekotedo, Ibadan, is set to commemorate its 80th anniversary with a weeklong celebration highlighting eight decades of spiritual growth, community impact, and unwavering commitment to the gospel.
Founded in 1945, the church has long stood as a beacon of worship, refuge, and spiritual guidance in Ibadan. Under the current leadership of Rev. Dr. Jonathan A. Babalola, the church continues to expand its ministries, touching lives across generations and fostering a deep sense of faith and service.
“This milestone is not just about looking back,” said Rev. Dr. Babalola. “It’s about giving thanks for God’s faithfulness, honouring those who came before us, and renewing our commitment to serve our community with love and hope.”
The 80th anniversary celebration kicks off on Sunday, July 20 with a grand thanksgiving service at the church auditorium.
In a statement yesterday made available to our correspondent in Taraba’ state, by the anniversary planning committee Chairman, Deacon T. O. P. Adewale, the anniversary, according to him, promises a meaningful and memorable experience for all attendees
All current and former members, residents of Ekotedo, and the general public, as announced by him, are warmly invited to join in this historic celebration.
“As the church reflects on its legacy, the mission remains clear: to go and make disciples of all nations, to serve with compassion, and to build a lasting legacy of faith,” the statement read.
