Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has charged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Okpebholo gave the charge on Wednesday at the inauguration of the Edo APC Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections, which he chairs.
The governor urged members of the council to work as a team and take the party’s campaign to every ward and polling unit across the state.
He said the campaign should involve direct engagement with residents at the grassroots, urging members to ensure that the APC’s message reached every community in Edo State.
Okpebholo also called for peaceful campaigns, cautioning party members against actions or statements that could cause division within the APC or the state.
He said the campaign should not be limited to party leaders and political office holders, but should also involve youths, women, traditional institutions, traders and other stakeholders.
The governor further tasked members of the council with explaining the programmes and achievements of the APC-led administration to residents while also listening to their concerns.
He described effective grassroots mobilisation as critical to the party’s success in the forthcoming elections.
Also speaking , Senator Adams Oshiomhole, co-chairman of the campaign council and Senator representing Edo North, commended Okpebholo for what he described as his grassroots approach to governance.
Oshiomhole said the governor’s ongoing visits to local government areas demonstrated the importance of taking leadership directly to the people.
He urged members of the campaign council to reach beyond existing APC members and engage other residents who may be willing to support the party.
“Those who are not members of the party are Nigerians and Edo people. They are our members. Our task is to motivate them and bring them into our fold,” Oshiomhole said.
On his part, the Edo State APC Chairman and co-chairman of the campaign council, Jarrett Tenebe, said the council comprised experienced party members carefully selected to deliver the party’s campaign.
