The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial candidate for Taraba North, Barrister Anfani Bandawa, has attributed the lack of infrastructural development in the district to what he described as poor representation at the National Assembly.
Bandawa stated this on Thursday in Jalingo while addressing NDC supporters from across Taraba North, expressing confidence in his chances against the incumbent senator, Shuaibu Lau, in the forthcoming general elections.
The candidate lamented the prolonged delay in completing the road linking Jalingo to Lau, describing it as an indication of the infrastructural challenges facing the senatorial district.
He urged residents of Taraba North to have confidence in his candidacy, promising to prioritise road construction and other critical infrastructure if elected.
Bandawa also warned against electoral malpractice, insisting that the NDC was prepared to monitor the electoral process and detect any attempt to manipulate the outcome of the elections.
He called on party members to put aside their differences and work collectively towards the success of the party in the forthcoming polls.
The NDC candidate further maintained that he would not be intimidated from campaigning, stressing that participating in the electoral process and seeking public office were rights guaranteed to all citizens.
Outlining his agenda for the district, Bandawa promised to create employment opportunities, provide scholarships for youths, empower vulnerable groups and pursue infrastructural development across Taraba North.
In his response, the NDC leader in Taraba State, Comrade Richard Dauda Achiaregeh, assured Bandawa of the party’s support, expressing confidence in his commitment and determination to bring about a change in leadership.
Achiaregeh said the party believed in the candidate’s drive and tenacity, adding that members were expected to work together to ensure the party’s success in the forthcoming elections
