Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has approved the appointment of Ambassador Sulaiman Santuraki, District Head of Tirwun, as the new Chairman of the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The governor also approved the appointment of Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Ahmed, Chiroman Gamawa and District Head of Gamawa, as Deputy Chairman of the board, with immediate effect.
The appointments followed the recent elevation of the Emir of Lere and Emir of Gamawa from district heads to their respective emirate stools.
According to a statement on the appointments, the changes were made in line with established tradition and the need to ensure continuity in the leadership and administration of the pilgrims welfare board.
In a related development, Governor Mohammed appointed the Emir of Lere, His Royal Highness Alhaji Nura Adamu Jumba, as the state’s Amirul Hajj for the 2027 Hajj exercise.
Jumba, who previously served as Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, will lead the state’s delegation and oversee the administration of the 2027 Hajj operations.
Governor Mohammed commended the outgoing chairman and other members of the board’s leadership for their dedication and commitment to the welfare of pilgrims.
He also acknowledged their contributions to the successful conduct of Hajj operations and the development of the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board over the years.
The governor expressed appreciation to the traditional rulers for their years of meritorious service to the state, particularly their contributions to the welfare of pilgrims and the administration of Hajj affairs.
Mohammed congratulated the newly appointed chairman and deputy chairman, urging them to deploy their experience and commitment towards the effective discharge of their responsibilities.
He charged the new leadership to sustain the progress recorded by the board and ensure improved services to Bauchi pilgrims.
