The Senate of Modibbo Adama University, Yola (MAU), in Adamawa state has approved the stoppage of part-payment of registration fees for undergraduate students, effective from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The decision was taken at the University Senate’s 283rd meeting held on Monday, September 21, 2026.
According to a circular signed by the Registrar, M. Mustafa Usman Migawa, the Senate noted that more than 4,000 undergraduate students had yet to complete their registration for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Senate attributed the development largely to what it described as the abuse of the instalment payment window provided for registration fees.
Consequently, the Senate resolved that, beginning from the 2026/2027 academic session, all undergraduate registration fees must be paid in full before registration is completed.
It also approved a two-week registration period beginning from the date of resumption, followed by a one-week late registration period.
The university said registration would finally close four weeks after resumption.
The management warned that students who fail to register within either the normal or late registration periods would be regarded as not registered for the academic session.
Such students, according to the directive, would not be permitted to participate in Continuous Assessment Tests or examinations, submit assignments or engage in other academic activities of the university.
The Registrar directed Deans, Directors and Heads of Departments to communicate the new registration policy to students for compliance.
