Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have intensified offensive operations against Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements across Borno State, recording significant gains in recent clearance and fighting patrols.
As part of Operation DESERT SANITY V, sustained pressure along the Azir–Wajiroko axis on 10 January 2026 forced 11 terrorists to surrender. The fighters laid down their arms, handing over AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition to the troops.
A day earlier, on 9 January 2026, troops carried out extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, destroying several active terrorist enclaves and camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile.
Among those dismantled were the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps. During the operation, troops destroyed life-support structures, degraded terrorist logistics and recovered items including terrorist flags, weapons and magazines.
Similar offensive actions in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced terrorists to flee their hideouts, leading to the destruction of additional logistics facilities and the recovery of weapons, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun.
In a related operation based on credible intelligence, troops engaged JAS/ISWAP elements between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, neutralising eight terrorists and recovering AK-47 rifles. Additionally, two suspected logistics collaborators were arrested in Gubio Local Government Area for allegedly supplying materials to terrorists.
Military authorities said troops remain resolute in sustaining offensive pressure, dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace and security across the North East region.
The operations were confirmed in a statement issued on 11 January 2026 by Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI.
