Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reaffirmed his commitment to a free, fair, and transparent process in the emergence of his successor in Adamawa State.

The governor made the statement at the Government House in Yola while receiving a governorship aspirant, Comrade Salihu Mustapha, who paid him a courtesy visit to formally declare his intention to contest the seat.

Fintiri noted that the increasing number of aspirants in the race would deepen the democratic process and provide the people of the state with credible options. He added that his administration remains focused on delivering its mandate within the remaining period of his tenure.

He assured all aspirants of a level playing field, emphasizing that fairness and transparency would guide the process. According to him, consultations are ongoing to ensure a credible and widely acceptable outcome.

The governor also urged aspirants to adopt issue-based campaigns and engage meaningfully with the grassroots, reiterating his resolve to ensure that a competent and people-oriented leader succeeds him.

Earlier, Comrade Salihu Mustapha said he was at the Government House to formally inform the governor of his governorship ambition, describing Fintiri as a mentor and a key figure in the development of modern Adamawa State.

He commended the governor’s administration for achievements recorded in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security, and social welfare, noting that the state has witnessed significant transformation under his leadership.

Mustapha also expressed appreciation to the people of Adamawa State for their support and encouragement, pledging to pursue issue-based politics and to build on existing progress if given the mandate.

With nearly ten aspirants already in the race, political activities within the All Progressives Congress (APC) have intensified, as party members and stakeholders keenly observe developments ahead of what is expected to be a highly competitive primary election.
