Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have raided several bandit hideouts and foiled a meeting allegedly convened by a notorious bandit leader in the southern part of Taraba State.
The operation, carried out on 5 July 2025, targeted remote areas in Wukari Local Government Area believed to be strongholds of Liamdoo Douglas Adekpe, also known as Bajor.
According to a statement issued on Monday in Jalingo by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Olubodunde Oni, the raid was based on credible intelligence.
“Acting on intelligence, the troops launched a swift offensive, forcing the criminals to flee and abandon several items,” the statement said.
The troops destroyed camps reportedly used by the syndicate for planning attacks and storing weapons. Five operational motorcycles suspected to have been used by the bandits for raids and quick movements were also recovered.
Commander of 6 Brigade and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, confirmed that Bajor and his associates narrowly escaped but are currently being tracked by security forces.
He reassured residents of the Army’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks threatening peace in Taraba State and neighbouring areas.
Brigadier General Uwa urged residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies, adding that the Brigade would sustain both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to ensure lasting peace and security in the state.
He described the operation as part of a broader clearance campaign aimed at flushing out criminal elements across Taraba State.
