Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai, have recorded significant successes in ongoing counterterrorism operations across the North-East, thwarting a terrorist infiltration attempt and arresting several suspected logistics suppliers and collaborators linked to insurgent groups.

The military said troops successfully repelled an attempted terrorist advance toward the North East Theatre Training School in Buni Yadi, Borno State, on June 9, 2026.

According to military authorities, the terrorists were detected at about 9:00 a.m., prompting a swift response by troops who employed coordinated fire missions to neutralise the threat and prevent the insurgents from gaining access to the facility.

A subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of two terrorist corpses and a motorcycle, further confirming the success of the operation.

In separate intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling terrorist support networks, troops of the 25 Brigade Garrison, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), arrested two suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics suppliers, identified as Mallam Bako Ibrahim and Abu Aji, along the Sierra 4 axis in Damboa.

Similarly, troops of the 162 Amphibious Battalion, in collaboration with the CJTF, apprehended another suspect, Musa Idi, along the Mandaragirau–Sabon Gari road.

The arrests were disclosed in a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Haruna M. Sani, Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation Hadin Kai.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly involved in supplying materials and other forms of logistical support to terrorists operating within Damboa Local Government Area.

Items recovered from the suspects included 19 wristwatches, a large mat, a transistor radio, two cartons of agro-allied chemicals and other materials believed to be intended for terrorist use. The suspects and recovered items are currently in military custody pending further investigation.

In a related development, combined troops of Sector 2 and the CJTF arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Adams Shittima, in Damboa town at about 5:58 a.m. on June 9.

Military sources said the suspect was intercepted while attempting to procure farm implements and mosquito nets for terrorist elements.

During preliminary interrogation, Shittima reportedly confessed to providing logistics support and intelligence to insurgents operating in the area, exposing another layer of the support network sustaining terrorist activities in Damboa.

The military noted that sustained offensives against terrorist enclaves continue to weaken insurgent groups and compel their members to abandon criminal activities.

The High Command commended troops for their professionalism, vigilance and resilience in the ongoing fight against terrorism and insurgency, stressing that the latest operational gains reflect Operation Hadin Kai’s determination to dismantle terrorist support structures, deny insurgents freedom of action, protect civilians and create conditions for lasting peace, security and socio-economic recovery across the North-East.
