The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned a purported list of its senatorial candidates making the rounds on social media and some online platforms, describing the publication as fake and unauthorized.
The party, in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the document titled “Concluded List of APC Senatorial Candidates So Far” did not originate from the party and should be disregarded.
“The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been drawn to a purported ‘Concluded List of APC Senatorial Candidates So Far’ currently circulating on social media and some online platforms,” the statement said.
“The APC wishes to state that the said list is fake and did not emanate from the party.”
The ruling party urged its members, stakeholders, media organizations, and the general public to ignore the publication, stressing that only its authorized organs can announce candidates emerging from party processes.
According to the statement, the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC), acting through officially designated communication channels, remains the only body empowered to release the names of candidates produced through primary elections and other
constitutionally recognized procedures.
The party also cautioned against the spread of unverified information, warning that such publications could mislead the public, create confusion, and undermine the integrity of its internal democratic processes.
The disclaimer comes weeks after the APC conducted senatorial primaries across various districts in May 2026 in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
The primaries produced several notable outcomes, including the emergence of some incumbent senators and governors as senatorial candidates.
Meanwhile, the party had earlier disqualified 47 aspirants from the senatorial race, among them former Bayelsa East senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, and Benson Agadaga.
The APC reiterated its commitment to transparent and credible electoral processes, urging the public to rely only on information disseminated through its official communication channels.
