In a successful rescue operation, troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have freed seven kidnapped victims in Riyom local government council of Plateau state.
The rescue mission, according to the Media Information Officer, Operation Safe Haven, Major Samson Nani Zhakom, was part of the ongoing Operation LAFIYAN.JAMA’A, which targeted Attakar high grounds in Ganawuri district.
Acting on intelligence reports, the troops, according to the statement, launched an offensive operation in the area, identified as the hideout where kidnappers held victims abducted along the Jos-Ganawuri road on March 7, 2025.
Upon engaging the kidnappers, the troops’ superior firepower forced the criminals to flee into the high grounds, abandoning their captives.
A thorough search of the area, the troops said, led to the successful rescue of Seven victims.
The rescued victims, according to the troops, are Sale Umar, Muhammadu Inusa, Abdullahi Abdulrasaq, Abdulsalam Muhammad, Muhammad Hamisu, Ibrahim Maradu and Saidu Sani.
The troops also announced the recovery of a bag containing a blanket and clothing materials abandoned by the fleeing criminals.
“Following their rescue, the victims were debriefed to provide intelligence that will aid follow-up operations aimed at tracking and neutralizing members of the kidnapping syndicate.
The troops reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the manhunt for criminal elements operating within the Joint Operations Areas, ensuring their immediate arrest and prosecution.
