Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has called on pilgrims from the state traveling to the Holy Land to uphold law and order while dedicating their prayers to resolving Nigeria’s lingering insecurity challenges.
The governor made the appeal during a courtesy visit by Bishop Stephen Victor Adegbite, the National Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christians Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), at the Government House in Yola.
Highlighting insecurity as a critical national issue obstructing peace and development, Governor Fintiri expressed hope that the prayers of the pilgrims would help steer the country toward a brighter future.
“It is our wish that the pilgrims will pray for Nigeria and Adamawa so that we can see progress, unity, and an end to the challenges we’ve been facing as a nation, particularly insecurity,” the governor stated.
He acknowledged the difficulties the country is currently facing but remained optimistic about a positive turnaround, describing the ongoing efforts as a journey toward a brighter and more secure future.
Governor Fintiri also praised President Bola Tinubu for extending support to both Christian and Muslim pilgrims, calling it a testament to his leadership as a unifier.
The governor urged the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Adamawa State and wished them a safe and successful journey.
Bishop Adegbite, in his remarks, commended Governor Fintiri and President Tinubu for their unwavering support for Christian pilgrimages, particularly in Adamawa.
He described this year’s pilgrimage as a “Pilgrimage of Hope and Total Restoration” and expressed optimism about a secure and prosperous future for the state and the nation.
“The third batch of pilgrims just returned yesterday, and we recorded no losses. We are confident that Adamawa pilgrims and others embarking on this journey will return safely with good outcomes,” Bishop Adegbite said.
