Youths in Taraba State have commended the Nigerian Army for its continued efforts in restoring peace, following the successful rescue of four kidnapped victims through Operation LAFIYAN JAMAA.
Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), carried out the rescue operation on April 3, 2025, in Kallong village, Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
According to the military, the operation was made possible by credible intelligence.
“The troops swiftly stormed the location, forcing the kidnappers to flee and abandon their captives. All four victims were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their families,” stated Captain Oni Olubodunde, the Acting Assistant Spokesperson of the Brigade, in a press release issued in Jalingo on Friday.
In a show of appreciation, youths from the Andamin community in Karim Lamido visited the troops’ camp, expressing gratitude for the Army’s role in improving security in the region.
Speaking on behalf of the youth, community leader Alhaji Adamu Abubakar praised the soldiers for their dedication and professionalism, noting the significant improvement in local security.
As a gesture of support, the youth group pledged to construct a borehole at the troops’ camp, a project expected to be completed within three days.
Reacting to the development, the Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, commended the troops for their swift and effective response.
He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring the safety of communities under its jurisdiction and urged residents to continue providing timely and reliable intelligence.
