Zamfara State Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal, on Monday presided over the 58th meeting of the State Executive Council at the Government House in Gusau, marking a milestone in the administration’s decision-making process since assuming office in 2023.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesman, Sulaiman Bala Idris, the meeting underscored what the administration described as a historic achievement, noting that no previous government in the state has convened as many Executive Council sittings within a comparable period.
According to the statement, Governor Lawal has led 58 Executive Council meetings since he was sworn in in May 2023, including 13 sittings in 2023, 22 in 2024, and 23 meetings in 2025 alone. The sessions, the statement said, have focused on deliberations and approvals of policies, projects, and programmes aimed at driving development across the state.
The spokesman noted that the council meetings have served as a platform for key decisions, including the adoption of the 10-Year Zamfara State Development Plan, as well as the approval of projects in critical sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, the economy, and security.
Among the projects approved by the Executive Council are the Cargo International Airport, which is nearing completion; the rehabilitation and equipping of major government hospitals across the state’s 14 local government areas; the construction, renovation, and equipping of more than 500 schools; and the development of township roads in the state capital and other local government areas.
Idris said several of the projects approved by the council have been completed, while others are at various stages of execution, contributing to what he described as visible progress in different parts of the state.
“With the 58th Executive Council meeting, Governor Dauda Lawal has continued to demonstrate strong leadership and commitment to governance, resulting in policies and projects that are positively impacting the lives of the people of Zamfara State,” the statement added.
