The Borno State government has reiterated its dedication to eradicating human trafficking through strengthened collaboration with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).
During a courtesy visit by a NAPTIP delegation led by Zonal Commander Mohammed Danlami Barde, the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Hauwa Abubakar, emphasized the importance of sustained joint efforts in tackling trafficking and protecting vulnerable groups.
“As we come together to review our progress and strategize, your presence highlights our shared commitment to justice and the protection of human dignity,” Abubakar said. “Let us approach our discussions today with a unified purpose—our actions will directly impact the dismantling of trafficking networks and the promotion of justice in our society.”
Barrister Abubakar, who also chairs the Borno State Taskforce on Human Trafficking, affirmed that the administration under Governor Babagana Zulum remains steadfast in safeguarding the rights and dignity of all citizens, alongside its infrastructural development agenda.
Zonal Commander Barde lauded the state’s continued support, describing the visit as part of broader efforts to enhance surveillance, inter-agency coordination, and public awareness, particularly in response to rising concerns over child trafficking.
“We appreciate the unwavering support from your ministry. It plays a crucial role in advancing the mandates of both the Taskforce and NAPTIP,” Barde said, while calling for deeper stakeholder collaboration in addressing trafficking and other social injustices.
