The Benue State Government has condemned what it describes as politically-motivated protests and misinformation campaigns allegedly orchestrated to destabilize the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia.
Addressing journalists at a press conference in Makurdi, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, criticized recent demonstrations in Abuja, branding them as staged and unrepresentative of the true sentiments of Benue citizens.
“These protests are not organic expressions of public sentiment,” Kula said. “They are calculated attempts by disgruntled elements to settle personal scores, destabilize the state, and provoke an emergency rule declaration by President Tinubu.”
Kula accused the protest organizers of exploiting the state’s security issues for political advantage. He further alleged that the perpetrators have engaged ex-convicts and individuals impersonating legal professionals to submit misleading petitions to the National Assembly.
Calling on the Nigerian Bar Association to investigate cases of alleged impersonation and professional misconduct, Kula warned that such actions damage the integrity of the legal profession and undermine public trust.
Reaffirming the state’s stability, Kula assured the public that Benue remains secure, with all arms of government functioning smoothly. He emphasized the Alia administration’s continued progress in addressing insecurity and driving development.
