The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reiterated its strategic role in safeguarding the nation’s aviation infrastructure as part of broader efforts to enhance national security.
Speaking at the Aviation Security Stakeholders’ Engagement held on Thursday at the Dr. John Ade Abolurin Auditorium, NSCDC National Headquarters in Sauka, Abuja, the Commandant General of the Corps, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, underscored the importance of aviation security in the country’s overall security architecture.
Professor Audi described aviation as one of the most sensitive sectors in Nigeria’s security landscape, emphasizing that its protection is fundamental to national stability.
“Security is everybody’s business, and aviation security is national security,” he declared, calling for stronger alliances, standardization of operations, and proactive, intelligence-led strategies.
He highlighted the NSCDC’s mandate in securing critical infrastructure, gathering intelligence, conducting surveillance, and responding to emergencies as vital contributions to public safety and national development.
The engagement brought together key stakeholders from across the aviation and security sectors to foster cooperation, enhance information sharing, and coordinate strategies in the face of evolving security threats.
The Commandant General urged continued collaboration among regulatory bodies, security agencies, and aviation operators to ensure a unified front in protecting Nigeria’s airspace and aviation assets.
The forum, as gathered by WorldClass247News, was aimed at reinforcing partnerships to safeguard critical infrastructure and ensure the safety of lives and property within the nation’s aviation corridors.
