Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South in the Nigerian Senate, has declared that he is prepared to lay down his life for the sake of speaking the truth.
Ndume made this known during an interview on Arise Television, emphasizing that his criticisms of President Bola Tinubu’s administration are driven by a desire to see Nigeria improve, rather than personal animosity.
“I’m 65, and I have been in this business for 24 years. God has done everything for me. The only thing I have to do right now, and I am prepared to die doing it, is to speak the truth and do what is right,” he said.
Addressing speculations of a fallout between himself and President Tinubu, the senator dismissed any suggestion of hostility, revealing that he previously enjoyed a close relationship with the President.
“I used to go to Tinubu’s bedroom both in Bourdillon and here in Lagos House, and he knows me very well. If we meet casually, he’ll tell me, ‘I hear you,’” Ndume recounted.
Ndume also denied reports that he is planning to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or any political coalition.
While acknowledging internal challenges within the APC, he said he remains committed to the party for now.
“That is why I will not jump ship, but when the ship is getting overloaded with unnecessary cargo and may capsize, then I better consider the small ship,” he stated.
Ndume, as noticed by WorldClassNews247, has been an outspoken figure in the Senate, frequently criticizing certain government policies while insisting that his loyalty to the APC remains intact.
