The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested 29 suspects and recovered suspected illicit drugs and other items during coordinated raids on criminal hideouts in Yola, Jimeta and adjoining areas.
The operation was conducted by operatives of the Yola Area Command led by the Area Commander, ACP Grace Sanda, following a directive by the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, to Divisional Police Officers across the state to intensify raids on criminal hideouts.
According to a statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the raids resulted in the recovery of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, Tramadol capsules, wraps of suspected illicit substances, pipes, lighters, bottles and other items allegedly linked to the consumption and distribution of illicit drugs.
The 29 suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine their individual roles and identify other persons allegedly connected to the activities.
The Commissioner of Police commended the Area Commander, DPOs and other operatives involved in the operation for their commitment and professionalism.
He directed the officers to sustain intelligence-led raids on criminal hideouts across the state as part of efforts to prevent criminal activities and enhance public safety.
The Command also assured residents of its commitment to taking decisive action against criminal elements and activities capable of threatening peace and security in the state.
The police urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information that could assist security agencies in tackling criminal activities.
