Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has announced the immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council, ending the tenure of commissioners who have served in his cabinet over the past two and a half years.
The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, following the 53rd session of the State Executive Council.
Professor Njodi stated that the governor has directed all commissioners to hand over the affairs of their ministries to Permanent Secretaries by Friday, 10th April 2026, to ensure continuity in governance and administrative stability.
During the session, governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed his profound gratitude to the outgoing commissioners for their dedication, loyalty, and sacrifices in advancing the state’s development agenda.
He acknowledged their roles in implementing policies and programmes that have positively impacted citizens’ lives, wishing them well in future endeavors and noting that many would continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth of Gombe State and the nation.
In a related directive, the governor has ordered all political appointees, including aides and office holders seeking elective positions in the 2027 general elections, to resign by the same April 10 deadline. The move is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and compliance with electoral laws and guidelines.
The valedictory session saw Council members undertake a comprehensive review of their performance, highlighting key milestones achieved across critical sectors of the state’s economy. They also passed a vote of confidence on Governor Inuwa Yahaya, praising his leadership style, policy direction, and commitment to transforming Gombe State.
Under his stewardship, the Council noted significant progress in infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and economic reforms, positioning Gombe as a reference point for progressive leadership in Nigeria.
Outgoing commissioners expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve, describing their tenure as impactful and fulfilling. They pledged continued support for the Governor and his vision for a more prosperous Gombe State as they transition to other endeavors.
