The Benue State Government has denied any involvement by governor Hyacinth Alia in the alleged moves to impeach the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hyacinth Aondona Dajoh.
In an official statement issued from Government House, Makurdi, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, described the rumours of the Governor’s involvement as unfounded and misleading.
“The governor is not aware of, and has no hand in, any purported plan to remove the Speaker,” the statement read. “Governor Alia remains fully committed to the principles of the rule of law and the separation of powers among the three arms of government.”
Kula emphasized that the governor continues to hold the legislature in high regard and has maintained a cordial and productive relationship with the House of Assembly under Speaker Dajoh’s leadership.
He further noted that governor Alia has consistently respected the resolutions and communications of the Assembly, citing a recent instance where the Governor promptly acted on key resolutions transmitted from the House.
Reiterating the administration’s commitment to good governance, the statement assured the public that the Governor remains focused on working with the legislature for the overall progress and development of Benue State.
