Prominent political figures Atiku Abubakar and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have strongly condemned the tragic killing of 16 Northern travelers in Uromi, Edo State.
The victims, primarily Hausa hunters traveling from Port Harcourt to Kano for Sallah celebrations, were reportedly attacked by a mob that falsely accused them of being kidnappers.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar expressed sadness over the incident, offering condolences to the families of the deceased.
In a statement on his Facebook page, he called for a thorough and transparent investigation, emphasizing that swift action is necessary to prevent further incidents of mob violence.
“The protection of innocent lives must be our priority,” he stated, urging authorities to ensure that justice is served and seen to be served.
Similarly, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso denounced the attack as barbaric and a clear example of “jungle justice.” In his own statement, Kwankwaso reaffirmed the right of every Nigerian to travel safely without fear of harassment or brutality.
He called on security agencies to launch a comprehensive investigation and bring those responsible to justice.
The statements from these key leaders, as observed by WorldClass247News, have added to the growing calls for justice and accountability in the wake of the tragedy.
With public outrage mounting, the Edo State Government and security agencies are under increasing pressure to take decisive action and restore confidence in law enforcement efforts.
