A leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo, has vowed to prevent Governor Chukwuma Soludo from securing a second term, citing the administration’s alleged failure in tackling insecurity and governance challenges.
Speaking in Abuja after submitting his nomination forms at the APC national secretariat, Okonkwo accused Soludo of bringing “pain, sorrow, and insecurity” to Anambra instead of fulfilling his promises of economic transformation.
“We have only gotten pain, sorrow, and agony from Governor Soludo instead of his promise to reproduce Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Japan in Anambra,” Okonkwo stated.
He questioned the timing of Soludo’s renewed efforts to address insecurity in the state, arguing that it came too late for many victims.
“Why did it take him this long to start addressing insecurity in the state? It is medicine after many deaths, and the spirit of those who lost their lives will not forgive us if we give Soludo a second-term ticket,” he declared.
Okonkwo also dismissed speculations about a political agreement between Soludo and the presidency, allegedly to secure 25% of Anambra’s votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
He maintained that the APC must fully take control of Anambra rather than settle for a partial electoral victory.
As the 2025 governorship race heats up, Okonkwo’s remarks, as noticed by WorldClass247News, signal an intensifying battle for Anambra’s top seat, with the APC aiming to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
