The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has directed the South South Zonal Caretaker Committee to take charge of the Cross River State chapter following the expiration of the tenure of the state executive committee today, September 18.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the NWC said the directive is aimed at preventing a leadership vacuum in the state chapter and ensuring smooth party operations until a new executive is elected.
The South South Zonal Caretaker Committee, headed by Chief Emmanuel Ogidi, has been mandated to oversee party affairs in Cross River State and coordinate preparations for the upcoming state congress scheduled for Saturday, September 27, 2025.
“The NWC took the decision to ensure that there is no vacuum in the leadership structure of our party in Cross River State pending the election of a new executive,” the statement read.
The committee is expected to liaise closely with the national leadership to facilitate a successful congress.
The NWC also urged all party leaders, stakeholders, and members in the state to remain united and committed to the progress and cohesion of the PDP.
