The Akwa Ibom State Government has officially revoked all land allocations made between May 29, 2023, and August 25, 2025, including those involving government-acquired properties.
The decision was announced in a statement issued on Monday by the state’s Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Uko Essien Udom.
According to Udom, the move is part of a broader effort to revalidate all land allocations and transition to the newly introduced digital Geographic Information System, known as Akwa-GIS.
As part of the reform, the government has suspended all new land allocations and transactions for one month. During this period, the Directorate of Lands will remain closed to the public.
A two-month revalidation exercise will follow, to be carried out by the GIS office under the Ministry of Lands and Town Planning.
The state government emphasized that any land rights or allocations not revalidated within the stipulated window will be considered void.
Residents and stakeholders have been urged to cooperate with the process to ensure a smooth transition to the digital land management system.
