The Abia State chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its unity and strategic preparedness for the 2027 general elections, declaring Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the legitimate National Secretary of the party and debunking claims of any merger or alliance with other political forces.
In a statement signed by the State Chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, the party emphasized that the restoration of Senator Anyanwu to his position followed due process and extensive consultation with major organs of the PDP, including the National Working Committee (NWC), Board of Trustees (BoT), the Governors’ Forum, National Assembly Caucus, Forum of Former Governors, Forum of State Chairmen, as well as legal experts and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“This resolution was ratified by the party’s highest decision-making body, the National Executive Committee (NEC), making it both valid and binding. Any contrary claims are baseless and mischievous,” the statement read.
The Abia PDP also took aim at what it described as false narratives being circulated by political saboteurs, stating that the party has a duty to inform its members truthfully and counter misinformation designed to sow division.
“There is no merger, alliance or political pact formal or informal between the PDP in Abia State and any other party or individual ahead of 2027. Our ideological compass is clear, our structure remains solid, and our strategy is intact,” Amah asserted.
On preparations for upcoming polls, the party said it is fully mobilized to participate in all scheduled elections, including off-season and by-elections in Anambra, Edo, Oyo, Ekiti, and the FCT. The statement also confirmed ongoing preparations for a lawful and unifying National Convention later in the year, aimed at reinforcing internal democracy within the party.
The leadership further urged members to reject all campaigns of calumny allegedly being orchestrated by expelled or disgruntled individuals, warning that no one has the right to malign the institution that gave them political relevance.
“The PDP is not afraid of truth we are founded on it. We do not operate in secrecy we thrive in structure. We are not weakened by dissent we are strengthened by discipline,” the statement concluded.
The party reiterated its commitment to unity, electoral victory, and sustained relevance across Abia State and the nation.
