The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced an extension of the grace period for enforcing the Tinted Glass Permit requirement, pushing the new deadline to August 12, 2025.
This decision was approved by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, following widespread public feedback on the reactivation of the digital permit application system.
According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the extension aims to address concerns raised by citizens and allow for further improvements to the application process. He emphasized that the NPF remains committed to transparent and citizen-focused policing.
“The voices of Nigerians have not gone unheard,” the statement read. “They have played a critical role in guiding our ongoing service reviews. The extension provides room for necessary enhancements to ensure the process is accessible, secure, and user-friendly.”
The police said efforts are underway to streamline both physical and contactless application procedures. These include better verification systems and simplified steps to reduce delays and prevent undue hardship for applicants.
Citizens were reminded to use the official platform, www.possap.gov.ng, for permit applications and renewals. The public is also urged to report any hidden charges, unauthorized fees, or extortion during the application or biometric capturing process via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.
Reiterating its commitment to public safety and service innovation, the NPF thanked Nigerians for their continued patience and cooperation as it works to refine the system.
