Security forces in Nigeria have again recorded significant victories in the fight against kidnapping and violent crime, rescuing 11 kidnapped victims in Katsina State and arresting a key suspect linked to a cross-state kidnapping ring in Delta State.
In Katsina, operatives from the Combined Joint Task Force and other security agencies thwarted a kidnap attempt along the Danmusa–Mara Dangeza village road in Danmusa Local Government Area.
The patrol team encountered a group of armed bandits attempting to escape with their captives. A fierce gun battle ensued, resulting in the kidnappers fleeing with gunshot injuries.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed that all 11 victims were rescued unharmed.
Meanwhile, in Delta State, officers from the CP-Special Assignment Team apprehended a 30-year-old suspect, Abubakar Hassan, believed to be a key figure in a kidnapping syndicate operating across Delta, Rivers, Imo, and Enugu States.
Acting on credible intelligence, the police, according to the statement, arrested Hassan, who later confessed to leading several kidnapping operations, particularly along the Ughelli-Ozoro axis.
He subsequently led authorities to a forest hideout in Ozoro, where security forces recovered two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, and 32 rounds of live ammunition.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun praised the courage and professionalism of the officers involved in the operations. He urged all police commands across the country to maintain their commitment and momentum in the ongoing campaign against violent crime.
