The Adamawa State Police Command, said they have apprehended a woman for impersonating a Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) and allegedly orchestrating a fake job recruitment scheme in the state capital.
The suspect, identified as Face Samuel of Army Barracks Road in Yola North Local Government Area, was said to have been arrested on April 22 by operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) following credible intelligence.
According to police sources, Samuel reportedly posed as a VIO multiple times and defrauded at least four individuals — Blessing Kefas, Abel Samuel, Evlyne Amos, and Friday Adamu — collecting a total of ₦350,000 under the pretense of securing them employment with the Adamawa State Ministry of Transportation.
Authorities also claimed that the suspect confessed to the crime and revealed that the VIO uniform used in the scam was handed to her by an unidentified individual, who is now being sought by police.
In a statement issued out on behalf of the Commissioner of Police Dankombo Morris, by the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the command urged members of the public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activities.
The command, through the commissioner, also assured that investigations are ongoing to uncover more victims and collaborators involved in the fraudulent scheme.
