Former Minister of Defense and retired General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma has renewed his call for Nigerians to take charge of their own safety, warning that the nation’s worsening insecurity cannot be tackled by the government alone.
Danjuma made the statement during an Easter appreciation event held in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, where he gathered staff, partners, and affiliates to express gratitude for their contributions over the years.
“If our people do not stand up and defend themselves, bandits and terrorists will take over our society,” Danjuma warned, urging citizens to adopt self-defense strategies and remain vigilant in the face of growing threats from criminal elements.
He emphasized that community readiness and unity are essential in preventing a total breakdown of law and order, adding that collective action is key in addressing Nigeria’s security challenges.
In addition to his security remarks, Danjuma extended heartfelt appreciation to his workforce and collaborators, singling out the TY Danjuma Medical Centre for commendation.
He praised the healthcare team for their unwavering commitment to service delivery under difficult conditions.
Our correspondent noted that the gathering doubled as a festive celebration and a platform for the retired general to once again advocate for citizen-led efforts in securing lives and property across the country.
