Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has issued a firm warning to individuals or groups planning to visit the state without prior notification, stressing that such actions could compromise public safety and order.
In a statement released on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor emphasized that he cannot guarantee the safety of any visitor who enters the state without informing the government in advance.
Governor Alia specifically cautioned against visits that could attract political gatherings or incite public unrest, saying these must first be cleared with the state authorities to allow proper security arrangements.
He further stated that anyone planning to visit Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps must first seek approval from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA), citing the sensitivity of such locations.
“The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, wishes to inform the public that he is not expecting any August visitor to the state today,” the statement read. “He is currently engaged in high-profile meetings with key state actors to discuss critical issues affecting our state.”
The statement continued with a stern advisory: “He strongly advises against any group or high-profile individual(s) attempting to enter the state for any kind of visit that may generate political assemblies without prior approval.”
Governor Alia concluded by urging security agencies and the general public to remain alert and to report any unauthorized activities that could threaten the peace and stability of the state.
