Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has paid a sympathy visit to victims of a bomb explosion that struck the Maiduguri-Damboa road earlier on Saturday.
The devastating blast claimed eight lives and left several others wounded, with victims rushed to the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri for emergency care.
During his visit, Governor Zulum expressed deep sadness over the incident, offering heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
He described the attack as both “painful and tragic,” and condemned the perpetrators behind the violence.
In a swift response, the governor ordered that all medical expenses for the victims be fully covered by the Borno State Government. “Every victim of this terrible incident must receive comprehensive and free medical care,” he stated. “We are with them in this moment of grief and will not relent in our fight against those behind this violence.”
Providing updates to the press, Zulum confirmed that seven victims were in critical condition and receiving intensive treatment, while 14 others with minor injuries were expected to be discharged soon.
He also called on residents to remain resilient in the face of adversity and urged the military and other security agencies to intensify efforts in safeguarding key routes and strengthening the fight against insurgency in the region.
