Taraba State security forces have thwarted a kidnapping attempt on March 29, 2025, following a swift response by troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) and officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
The operation unfolded in Muji Town along the Takum-Jalingo road after road users alerted security agencies about an armed abduction in progress.
Acting swiftly, the troops, according to the statement issued out by the Brigade, mobilized to the scene, where they encountered the kidnappers and engaged them in a fierce gunfight.
Signed by the Brigade Acting spokesperson, Captain Oni Olubodunde, Overpowered by superior firepower, the criminals abandoned their captives and fled into the forest.
The rescued victims were identified as Mr. Yakubu Usman from Angwan Abuja in Takum and Mr. Godwin Peter from Angwan Dadin Kowa.
Adding that, Mr. Peter sustained injuries during the incident and was immediately transported to a medical facility for treatment.
Other passengers of the attacked 18-seater Toyota bus were said to have remain unharmed and continued their journey safely.
The 6 Brigade Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to safeguarding citizens in Taraba State and urged the public to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with credible information to aid ongoing efforts against criminal elements.
