Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety in the State.
During a courtesy visit by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Jos, Maj. Gen. Eyitayo Oyinlola, at the Government House in Yola, Governor Fintiri emphasized the importance of collaboration between the state government and security agencies. He also urged citizens to assist by providing timely intelligence to enhance security efforts.
Acknowledging Adamawa’s proximity to Boko Haram-affected areas, the governor commended the Nigerian Army’s role in curbing criminal activities and assured continued government support.
“We are committed to supporting institutions, whether federal or state, because of their importance to the development of our people,” Fintiri stated.
Fintiri also pledged to review the state’s Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Command Secondary School and provide necessary assistance.
Maj. Gen. Oyinlola, who also leads Operation Safe Haven, reaffirmed the military’s commitment to restoring peace in Adamawa.
He attributed recent security challenges to the displacement of criminal elements from the North West but assured that troops are actively working to neutralize any threats.
Reflecting on his early service in Adamawa, the GOC praised the state’s transformation under Governor Fintiri’s leadership.
He also commended the government’s support for the Brigade and Operation Farauta, instructing the Brigade Commander to intensify efforts against kidnapping.
Additionally, Maj. Gen. Oyinlola called for stronger collaboration between the state government and Command Secondary School, Numan, highlighting the impressive academic performance of local students.
