The Benue State government has disassociated itself from claims by Yaaya Godwin Terver, founder of ALPHA Security Company, regarding the approval of personnel recruitment across the state’s 23 local government areas.
In a press release issued on Tuesday. the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security and Internal Affairs, Joseph Terwase Har PSP, dismissed the claims as false and misleading.
He clarified that the state government had not authorized any recruitment into ALPHA Security Company.
The statement referenced a Security Council meeting held on October 20, 2023, where the government resolved to curb the spread of non-conventional security outfits.
As a result, all such organizations were mandated to operate under the Benue State Community Volunteer Guards (BSCVG), now renamed the Benue State Civil Protection Guards (BSCPG).
The government urged the public to disregard ALPHA Security Company’s recruitment claims and ordered an immediate halt to the exercise.
The Special Adviser warned that individuals involved in unauthorized recruitment would be treated as militia members.
Security agencies were as well directed to take decisive action against violators to ensure strict enforcement of the law.
