The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commissioned a state-of-the-art Tactical Training Ground at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command Headquarters in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, as part of efforts to strengthen operational readiness and enhance personnel capacity.
The facility was commissioned by the Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, in line with his vision of building an elite, disciplined and highly professional security organisation capable of addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
Speaking during the commissioning, the Corps emphasized that the new training ground is designed to simulate real-life operational conditions, enabling officers and men to undergo intensive tactical exercises aimed at improving physical endurance, sharpening operational skills and building the resilience required to operate effectively in diverse and challenging environments.
The NSCDC noted that the initiative reflects its belief that professionalism and effective service delivery are rooted in quality training. Citing the Latin maxim Nemo dat quod non habet—”No one gives what he does not have”—the Corps stressed that no security organisation can achieve excellence without investing in the competence and preparedness of its personnel.
The project was championed by the FCT Commandant, Dr. Olusola O. Odumosu, as part of efforts to support the Commandant General’s transformation agenda by providing a conducive environment for practical, mission-oriented training.
According to the Corps, the Tactical Training Ground will play a critical role in preparing personnel to effectively discharge the NSCDC’s statutory responsibilities, which include the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, disaster management, counter-terrorism support, regulation of private guard companies, conflict resolution, agro-rangers operations, and the protection of lives and property.
The Corps expressed confidence that the facility will produce officers who are physically fit, tactically proficient and mentally prepared to carry out their duties with professionalism, courage and efficiency.
It reaffirmed its commitment to investing in modern training infrastructure to equip personnel with the skills needed to anticipate, adapt to and respond effectively to emerging security threats while sustaining public confidence in the Corps as a dependable security institution.
