Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace, have uncovered a cache of weapons and ammunition after raiding a suspected gunrunners’ hideout in Fashoron Village, Daffo District, Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation, carried out on 13 November by personnel of Sector 2 (Sub-Sector 2) under Operation Enduring Peace, was part of ongoing efforts to curb armed criminal activities across the Joint Operations Area. According to military authorities, the suspects escaped moments before the troops arrived.
A search of the hideout led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, a sub-machine gun, two Dane guns, 42 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 84 rounds of 9mm ammunition, and 20 cartridges. Troops also seized six mobile phones and ₦330,000 in cash.
All items are now in military custody as efforts intensify to track down the fleeing suspects.
Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force, said the operation reflects the military’s sustained commitment to dismantling criminal networks and halting the spread of illegal arms within the region.
He reaffirmed that Operation Enduring Peace will continue to deploy all legitimate means necessary to restore security and stability across Plateau State and surrounding areas.
