Traditional rulers in the Sah-Kaka and Mayo-Ngada border communities of Sardauna Local Government Area, Taraba State, have vowed to ensure the success of the ongoing school feeding programme in their domains.
The commitment was made over the weekend when the monarch of Sah-Kaka Chiefdom, Chief Emmanuel Adda, hosted the Deputy Country Director of ActionAid, Hajiya Suwaiba Dankabo, along with the leadership of the Women and Children Health Empowerment Foundation (WACHEF).
Chief Adda emphasized that the initiative, if well protected, would support Governor Agbu Kefas’s compulsory free education policy.
He stressed the importance of involving community members in the programme’s implementation, noting that many government projects fail due to a lack of local participation.
“This school feeding programme must not fail,” he declared, pledging to personally monitor its execution.
Similarly, the monarch of Mayo-Ngada, Alhaji Sambo Ubandoma, assured that he would work tirelessly to ensure the programme’s success in his community. Both traditional leaders highlighted the programme’s role in boosting school enrollment.
Teachers in the beneficiary communities who spoke with WorldClass247News, confirmed a surge in pupils enrollment since the reintroduction of the school feeding programme.
“Parents who previously kept their children out of school are now making education a priority, encouraged by the daily meals provided through the initiative.” One of the teachers confirmed.
The school feeding programme which is implemented by ActionAid and WACHEF, WorldClass247News, learnt is being supported by the ECOWAS Commission and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation.
Speaking on the initiative, ActionAid’s Deputy Country Director, Hajiya Suwaiba Dankabo, and WACHEF’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Dr. Danjuma Garba, reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring every child has access to nutritious meals to enhance learning and growth.
