Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has ordered the immediate suspension of the Executive Secretary of the Adamawa State Post Primary Schools Management Board, Mr Birsan Penuel, over alleged irregularities in the discharge of his official responsibilities.

The suspension, announced by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, on Sunday, is intended to pave the way for a thorough investigation into the allegations against the board’s Executive Secretary.

The development comes amid the state government’s renewed emphasis on accountability and reforms in the education sector, with the administration insisting that public officers must adhere strictly to due process and established standards in the performance of their duties.

In the interim, the most senior director in the Post Primary Schools Management Board has been directed to assume responsibility for the affairs of the board and ensure that its operations continue without interruption.

Governor Fintiri said the decision underscores his administration’s determination to sanitise and reposition the education sector for improved service delivery.

According to him, the administration’s interventions over the past seven years—including the recruitment of qualified teachers, rehabilitation and construction of classrooms, provision of instructional materials, and regular payment of salaries and allowances—have contributed to reversing what he described as negative trends that previously affected the sector.

The governor, however, stressed that sustaining the gains recorded in education would require strict adherence to accountability and transparency by officials entrusted with managing public institutions.

“I will not look back in taking the necessary steps, no matter how tough, to protect the integrity of the system and ensure that our children receive the quality education they deserve,” Fintiri said.

He reiterated his commitment to building a functional, effective and credible post-primary education system capable of delivering quality education to children across Adamawa State.

The governor also warned political appointees and public officers against actions capable of undermining government policies and programmes, urging them to uphold due process, transparency and accountability in the discharge of their responsibilities.

“Any act that undermines the progress made in the education sector will be dealt with decisively,” he warned.

WorldClass247News, learnt that the suspension will remain in force while the investigation into the alleged irregularities is conducted.
