The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue South Senatorial District, also known as Zone C, has rejected what it described as a purported endorsement of Senator Abba Moro, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for the 2027 election.
The party made its position known in a statement signed by its Zonal Chairman, Job Onum, and dated September 6, 2026.
The APC leadership said its attention was drawn to a photograph and comments from the flag-off of Moro’s 2027 campaign on September 5, where a banner bearing the name and identity of the APC Benue South Senatorial District was displayed alongside statements suggesting support for “Tinubu and Moro.”
The party described the development as a “show of shame” and an attempt to mislead voters in the senatorial district, stressing that the APC had neither entered into an alliance with the PDP nor endorsed Moro.
According to the statement, the APC has its own senatorial candidate, Dr. Francis Ottah Agbo, and its political direction remains centred on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Hyacinth Alia and Agbo.
The party said it was unacceptable for anyone to attend a PDP campaign event and use APC identity in a manner capable of creating the impression that the ruling party had endorsed the PDP candidate.
“APC in Benue South is not PDP. APC has not endorsed Abba Moro, APC has its own candidate,” the statement said.
The APC further questioned the circumstances surrounding the display of its identity at the PDP campaign event, arguing that it was designed to create an impression of cross-party acceptance for Moro.
The party urged its members to remain calm and disregard what it described as attempts to confuse them through banners, photographs and political activities.
It reaffirmed its commitment to Tinubu, Alia and Francis Ottah Agbo, while insisting that the APC in Benue South remained united and focused ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party concluded by declaring: “We will not be deceived. We will not be distracted. And we will not go back to Egypt.”
