Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang of Plateau State has reaffirmed the resilience and unwavering spirit of the Plateau people in the face of renewed violence, declaring that the state’s legacy of peace, unity, and hospitality remains unbroken.

Speaking at the Experience Plateau: Art Meets Fashion event held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja, Governor Mutfwang addressed members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, investors, and dignitaries, stating that the recent attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area were not typical farmer-herder clashes, but a deliberate act of genocide aimed at destabilizing the state.

“In the last week, Bokkos Local Government Area has come under renewed attack by murderers who are desperate to break our spirit,” Mutfwang said. “Many advised that we suspend this function, but we realized that the intent of these attackers is to keep us in perpetual mourning. But I said no—life must go on. Plateau must move forward by the grace of God.”

Describing the attacks as calculated and inhumane, he called on the international community to recognize the situation for what it is: “Let me be clear: it is genocide, and I urge the international community to take note.”

He disclosed that arrests had been made and investigations were underway to uncover those behind the violence. “We know there are powerful forces behind these atrocities. By the grace of God, we will expose them and bring them to justice,” he vowed.

In a moment of solemn reflection, the Governor led attendees in observing a minute of silence in memory of the victims. “Some were slaughtered while attending a wake, others murdered in their sleep. May their blood cry out for justice,” he said.

Despite the security challenges, Governor Mutfwang assured investors and guests that Jos, the state capital, remains safe and open for business. He emphasized Plateau State’s vast potential in tourism, agriculture, and the creative economy.

“Plateau is blessed with opportunities—from its climate and culture to its rich agricultural base. We’re committed to telling the Plateau story through innovation, strategic partnerships, and enterprise,” he said, noting collaborative efforts with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to empower artisans and young creatives.

The Experience Plateau: Art Meets Fashion event, organized by the Plateau State Tourism Corporation, featured cultural exhibitions, fashion showcases, and the launch of Goudo Threads of Legacy—a unified fabric symbolizing Plateau’s unity and shared heritage.

The event, as noticed by WorldClass247News, underscored the administration’s efforts to use culture and creativity as a platform for healing, development, and global engagement, even amid adversity.
