Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested four suspected terrorists and recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition during a raid in Taraba State.
The operation was carried out on Tuesday in the Tau general area of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area following a distress call about the presence of armed men in the community, according to a statement released Thursday by the Acting spokesperson of the Brigade, Captain Oni Olubodunde.
Responding swiftly, the troops apprehended four suspects, three of whom were found in possession of firearms.
Items recovered at the scene included two pump-action rifles, a locally fabricated gun, three cutlasses, 42 cartridges, four mobile phones, and a national identity card.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects may have been invited to the area by one Alhaji Ardo Sani, who is now under investigation.
Commending the troops for their swift and professional response, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Taraba State and its environs.
The Army also called on the public to continue providing credible and timely information to aid ongoing counter-terrorism operations and help maintain peace in the region.
