The National President of the National Association of Nigeria Students Nurses and Midwives (NANSNM), Comrade Rika Thomas Rimamjimtop, has reaffirmed the legitimacy of Comrade Olushola Oladoja as the duly elected president of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), dismissing rival claims by another candidate, Atiku.
Speaking in a statement issued on Sunday, Rimamjimtop cited his presence at the NANS convention held in February 2025 at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja, affirming that Oladoja actively campaigned and engaged with students throughout the event.
“He visited delegates from state to state and even came to check on us at Agura Hotel, where many students were lodged,” he noted.
In contrast, Rimamjimtop claimed that Atiku, who is also laying claim to the presidency, was absent from the convention. “This person called Atiku was not seen at the venue even once,” he said. He went on to state that the over 7 million Nigerian student nurses and midwives recognize Comr. Oladoja as the only legitimate NANS president.
The statement also urged Atiku to address any personal issues he may have with Seyi Tinubu independently, warning against dragging Nigerian students into political matters.
Rimamjimtop praised Tinubu’s contributions to student welfare, asserting that “through him, Nigerian students are enjoying a lot of benefits under the current government.”
