The Katsina State Executive Council has approved over ₦200 million for the procurement of ultrasound scanning machines for primary healthcare centers across the state’s 34 Local Government Areas.
Additionally, ₦414 million has as well been allocated for the expansion of the State School of Nursing facilities.
The Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Musa Adamu Funtua, disclosed this after the council’s first regular meeting of the year, chaired by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
Alhaji Funtua explained that one healthcare facility in each local government area would receive the modern scanning equipment.
He noted that the ultrasound machines would ease the burden of transporting pregnant women to general hospitals for scans, enhancing maternal healthcare at the local level.
Similarly, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tertiary Health Institutions, Alhaji Umar Mammada, revealed that the council approved the first phase of the renovation and expansion of the Katsina State School of Nursing.
The expansion aims to increase the institution’s admission capacity, improving access to nursing education and healthcare workforce development.
The government emphasized that these projects are part of its broader commitment to improving healthcare delivery and education infrastructure in the state.
