Residents of Ungwan Ate in Kachia local government council of Kaduna State staged a protest on Wednesday, blocking the Kachia-Kaduna highway to demand urgent action against the persistent terrorist attacks in their community.
The demonstrators, mostly youths, expressed frustration over the rising wave of banditry, which has left them in constant fear.
According to them, gunmen invaded the community on Monday night, operating for over two hours without any response from security forces, despite multiple distress calls.
Angry protesters questioned why insecurity remains rampant in Kachia despite the area’s high concentration of military and security formations.
They lamented the frequent attacks that have led to numerous deaths, kidnappings, and widespread fear.
“We have lost uncountable lives to these attacks,” one protester stated. “Our people are being kidnapped, suffering for crimes they know nothing about. We can no longer go to our farms or sleep peacefully at night.”
The protesters called on the Kaduna State Government and the federal authorities to take immediate steps to curb the crisis before it worsens.
They also urged Nigerians to stand in solidarity with them, stressing the urgent need for intervention to restore peace and security in the area.
