The Chairman of Jos North local government council of Plateau state, Barrister John Kyohroh Christopher, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the full completion and functionality of the Plateau State Rehabilitation Centre for the Physically Impaired.
Christopher gave the assurance on Tuesday during the commissioning of Phase One of the renovated structure of the centre in Jos.
He emphasized that many of the centre’s beneficiaries are residents of Jos North, making it imperative for the local council to take ownership and provide sustained support.
“We are one of the local governments that ensure persons with disabilities are part and parcel of our community,” the chairman stated. “We have seen you excel in various trades and skills. This centre is established for you—to help you build yourselves and contribute meaningfully to society.”
He urged beneficiaries to embrace the opportunity, develop their skills, and believe in their potential.
Representing governor Caleb Mutfwang at the event, the Plateau State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon. Caroline Panglang Daffur, encouraged participants to take full advantage of the centre’s offerings and work towards achieving their personal goals. The governor, through his representative, reiterated his administration’s continued support for persons with special needs.
Governor Mutfwang also commended the efforts of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Project Coordinator, Mrs. Nanbam Danjuma Lot, and other partners involved in the project. He further promised that products from the skills acquisition centre would be certified and registered to enhance their marketability.
In her remarks, Mrs. Lot expressed appreciation to both the state and local governments for their unwavering support in making the project a reality.
