The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to combating kidnapping and violent crimes following the successful rescue of six kidnapped victims in separate operations in Anambra State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a coordinated operation on March 22, a joint security team comprising operatives from the Anambra State Police Command and other security agencies, according to the IGP, rescued three victims who had been abducted at Nkwelle-Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area.
The victims, who he confirmed to have sustained injuries during their ordeal, were said to have been promptly taken to a hospital and are responding to treatment.
The IGP who stated this via a statement issued out on Monday by the Force headquarters spokesperson ,Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in another rescue mission, security operatives in the FCT responded to the abduction of a naval officer and two others at Mpape on March 21.
“A joint effort by the FCT Police Command, the Nigerian Military, the Department of State Services (DSS), local hunters, and vigilantes led to their successful rescue on March 23 at Anguwan Mu’azu in Nasarawa State. Authorities also arrested four suspected kidnappers linked to the incident,” he said.
Commending the officers involved, IGP Egbetokun praised their collaboration, bravery, and dedication to protecting lives and property.
He reassured Nigerians that the police, under his leadership, would continue to intensify efforts to curb crime and ensure national security.
The Nigeria Police Force, as assured by him. remains committed to strategic policing efforts aimed at eliminating criminal activities and safeguarding citizens across the country.
