Bayelsa state governor, Senator Douye Diri, has commissioned the Opolo Bridge in Yenagoa, a project facilitated by the member representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Oboku Oforji.

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, governor Diri described the bridge as a transformative infrastructure project that will enhance connectivity, stimulate economic activities and improve the movement of residents within Opolo community and other parts of Yenagoa local government council.

The governor commended Oforji for facilitating the project, noting that the lawmaker had demonstrated a genuine commitment to the welfare and development of his constituents.

“This bridge is a face-changing project. It’s a project that grants access, improves commerce and eases the movement of our people.

“I commend Hon. Oforji Oboku for facilitating this bridge project in Opolo community. This shows he has the interest of his people at heart,” governor Diri said.

Responding to an appeal by the traditional ruler of Opolo community during the event, the governor announced the immediate approval for the construction of the access road linking the newly commissioned bridge to the soon-to-be-completed Glory Drive Phase 3.

According to governor Diri, the additional road project will further expand the benefits of the bridge, improve transportation within the area and support ongoing urban development efforts in Yenagoa.

Residents of Opolo community expressed optimism that the bridge and the proposed link road would significantly improve access, boost commercial activities and contribute to the overall development of the area.
