The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has commenced a discreet and comprehensive investigation into the tragic killing of Ms. Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, a prominent News Anchor, Reporter, and Producer with Arise News Channel.
Ms. Maduagwu was reportedly murdered during an armed robbery at her residence in Katampe, Abuja, in the early hours of Monday, September 29, 2025.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ajao S. Adewale, has directed the deployment of intelligence and operational resources to apprehend the perpetrators.
In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, the incident was described as a “cruel and senseless act” with no place in a sane society.
The Commissioner expressed heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late journalist, and extended sympathies to the wider media community.
“The Command is fully committed to ensuring that justice is served. No stone will be left unturned in identifying and prosecuting those responsible for this heinous crime,” CP Adewale stated.
He urged FCT residents to remain vigilant and to provide any useful information that may aid the ongoing investigation. Residents were also advised to promptly report suspicious activity to security agencies as part of broader efforts to combat crime across the territory.
The police assured the public of their unwavering commitment to safety and the rule of law, as investigations continue.
