The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended seven individuals suspected of internet fraud in Benin City, the capital of Edo State.
The arrests were made on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, by operatives from the Benin Zonal Directorate of the commission.
According to an official statement, the suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence regarding their alleged involvement in internet-related crimes.
During the operation, the EFCC recovered several items, including a Lexus car, laptops, and mobile phones, believed to be connected to their illicit activities.
The commission disclosed that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as ongoing investigations are concluded.
